POWER OF ATTITUDE vs. POWER OF WORDS

A BIG MAN was crossing a bridge which only one person could pass one at a time.
Little JOHN was crossing it from other end, met the BIG MAN at centre.
BIG MAN to Little JOHN,”I don’t let fools pass.”
Little JOHN walked back his end, stepped aside and said,” BUT I DO.”

A Fable by William Wordsworth.

This fable, I came across on the internet, in one of the interviews of a Bollywood actor.
He was asked about his philosophy of life to which he replied,” Give the monkeys peanuts, let them rant, rave and scream. You just do your work. Be a horse with blinkers.”

After reading this I’ve a new respect for the actor.

This interview reminds me of two things.
Firstly my Dad’s words; he says,” When you’re in the field, play the game like Mara Dona does, streaming past the opponents paying the least of heed to the resistance offered by them in any form.”
“Let your game do the talking on your behalf and don’t interrupt, anytime.”

The second thing’s the protagonist, Howard Roark, of Fountainhead, the book by Ayn Rand. Somewhere at some point I feel a very close resemblance of these two characters, Little JOHN and Howard Roark. It’s the attitude...The gravity of the character.

Of course, the BIG question… What’s the need of (writing) all this?
A simple answer… Why not?

  1. Always dream big.. in the end you will succeed! (Most 'probably' though)

Your post is really inspiring! Who was this actor anyway?

  2. The little John was probably being alec smartypants. It doesn't mean he's a great person, with high ideals and hardworking, etc in general life

Probably got his neck wrung by the BIG MAN too for the joke.

But yeah, on the whole I get your message. In fact when I read two years ago, everything that was revealed about Roark seemed quite true of myself, except the raw physicality of muscles etc described in the opening scene :P.

But Dominique is kinda crazy. Needs to have her head examined :P

Anyways, isn't there a joke somewhere in there? Cos Ayn Rand seems to say that the 'masses' are idiotic and stuff. Its those masses that made her book so hit. It appealed to the masses. Does it mean its junk ;) Or are masses, made of each one of us, actually idealists. And on similar lines, why did she name Wynand rhyming with Ayn Rand? :P She did kinda see herself like the powerful being then ?

Yeah. Me. Ever the cynic. More so these days. Somehow.
